Will Garmin 255WT support GPX filetype instead of CSV for POI downloads?

Greets... I would like to know if anyone has got the Garmin 255wt to support GPX files downloaded from this site. I was told that it did not support multiple destination routing because I tried to download a map from mapquest and save as a GPX which worked and showed up in my GPX folder but my garmin 255wt would not run it. So if I download a gpx as a poi how can I access it and use it??
Thanks MrRochie

Yes - save POI gpx or csv

Yes - save POI gpx or csv file to pc. Connect Nuvi to pc and run POI Loader. poi.gpi file will be saved on Nuvi. Eject / remove Nuvi from pc. Turn Nuvi on, select Where to>Extras>Custom POIs (Custom POIs is a button - select it). Your poi file(s) will show up without the extension(s). Select and 50 closest pois will display.

These is a lot of info in FAQs and Search. Also see Help when you open POI Loader.

Routes can be created and downloaded as GPX files which some units can support. The 255 does not support routes.

POI can be created either as a CSV (comma separated variable) file or a GPX. The GPX file can contain much more information than a csv, but the tradeoff is the GPX POI file takes more space in the Nuvi.

a_user.A gpx file will only

a_user.A gpx file compared to a csv file will only takes more space on your computer.Once convereted to a gpi file very little differenc on the gps unit.I tested a gpx file and converted it to csv file and checked the space it takes on the gps for both.Didn't see much difference in the amount of space used on the gps unit.

Since 255 does not support routes, you will have to select destination location, select GO and let 255 calculate route. To adjust route, add Via(s) by selecting Menu>Where to>select different location>GO>Add as Via Point. 255 will recalculate Route. You can add as many Vias as you want to customize Route.

Hope this helps.

Will Garmin 255WT support GPX filetype instead of CSV for POI do

Thanks.... I'm thinking about getting a 700 or 800 series that supports multipoint routing. I frequently like to leave the beaten path and venture into the unknown..... Suggestions?? I heard the 885 model was not worth the extra dough.. I like many of the features that the 255wt has..Ecoroute, avoidences, and of course being able to import 1000 poi's vs 500 on the 885 models. Suggestions?

I won't comment about the models but the only limit to the number of POI is the amount of memory in the unit. You are confusing waypoints or favorites with POI. Waypoints are stored and handled differently than custom POI.
