To my knowledge that
To my knowledge that situation has not been resolved. I had contacted Garmin about this subject and have not received an answer as to when this issue would be resolved.

it is possible
It is possible to make the phone numbers work with the push of the phone icon.
You can write all the info for each custom poi in xml format that the Garmin can understand.
or if you have checked out the thread as suggested you would have come across

One of our active members has spent a lot of time working on a program that will do what you ask.
It is still in beta form. However, the program will convert csv files to gpx and in most cases find the phone number in those csv files and "make" it work.
you can use it to edit poi files, create poi files or convert csv to gpx. You can also set proximity and speed. You can use the import function to add (combine) to existing gpx files.
Currently it is limited to writing 5 waypoints (poi's) to the output file.
You might also want to check out this node as well

I think the program is worth checking out.

So if this program is converting to gpx files, is it possible to get this to work using Mapsource and putting that info in the waypoint properties comment field??
I've gotten the phone # to show using that method but it's not bluetooth dialable. (why not??)

The lines in the xml code for < desc > description < /desc >
and < cmt >comment< /cmt >
are different fields than what is required for the phone
< gpxx:PhoneNumber Category="Phone" > 7033789887 < /gpxx:PhoneNumber >
for example: This is one entry (or one POI or waypoint) from the Texas Roadhouse poi file. Which has a dialable phone number. As you can see, the comment, description and phone are different fields. Now, you can write all this info for each poi you want to have dialable phones numbers for, or use something like Hornbyp's program. (there is another thread on that)
MapSource (currently) doesn't handle the extended gpx format, therefore, won't put the phone info where it needs to go to make it dialable.

BTW, I can't explain it any more that that, since this much is at about my eye level - one step away from being over my head!

So do you think...
That I could take a poi file that I created in Mapsource (saved as gpx) and open it with another program (or Hornbyp's program) and then add the dialable phone # field to given waypoints in the file, and save as gpx... then load that puppy on my nuvi and have bluetooth dialing for those #'s??
Thanks for your help Ismonop, I've learned quite a bit from other posts of yours.

yes :-)

yes
Also, Mapsource will not strip out the gpxx extension information from the gpx file, so you can go back and edit Mapsource standard info for waypoints without the risk of losing what you manually added.

Are you perhaps, able to expand on that?

Thanks...
Your another one who's been very helpfull:)
I'll try messing around with that.
On a side note, did you see I got the multiple different jpg's to work? However I could not link multiple files via the file/url and get them to work on my nuvi... it just recognizes the first link.
Thanks again,
Greg

Greg,
I see you got the answer already from Hornbyp
The more I use it (GeePeeEx) the more I like it. I've been working on the cave and cavern poi for Texas, first as a csv and then opening in GeePeeEx. Dialable phone numbers, it's great! Now I'm working on Oklahoma and Arkansas Creating each waypoint with GeePeeEx. I think it's as easy or easier to use than Mapsource as far as creating. Minus the map part of course.
