Nuvi 705 - maps disappear

A colleague just bought a new Nuvi 760. Beautiful GPS!!!
I offered to help her download and install POI from the POI Factory.
All went well, but when we were done when we went to the main screen to navigate, the maps refused to draw. The navigation screen had everything else but no maps!
Real bummer for brand new user to Garmin.
Is this a bug? Some known problem. Their must be a solution but searching for Nuvi 750 problems, Nuvi 750 and POI, etc., produced no results.

Make certain you haven't
Make certain you haven't unchecked the map enable box on the map info page.
Currently have: SP3, GPSMAP 276c, Nuvi 760T, Nuvi 3790LMT, Zumo 660T

...to bother you on this one again, bramfrank, but after passing along your suggestion that she be certain that she had not unchecked the map enable box, she wrote back to tell me that she had gone through all the settings on her Nuvi and could not find any screen on where she could either check or not check any map enable box.
She is about to send it back to Amazon.com on Monday.
Would you be able to tell her precisely where to look for the map enable box???

Touch Wrench/Settings/Map/Map Info, then see if City Navigator has a check in the box. If not, touch the empty box to check it. Good luck to you both.

Defective unit
Appears that my colleague got a defective Nuvi 750.
It finally came down to the point that, even plugged in, he unit simply would not even turn on.
She sent it back for an exchange.
