external microphone questions

hey fellas. i just got my 765t in the mail yesterday. i will play with it as soon as i get my invisibleshield.

anyway..

i was wondering if anyone here has used the external mic. i heard it does enhance the clarity of the sound. can any user of one subject or approve of that?

also, does anybody know where it attached to? im not a big fan of wires so.. i hope that isnt an issue.

and does it have to be a garmin product? i was wondering if there is an alternative that may cost less and be as much or even more effective.

thanks

A pedestrian is someone who thought there were a couple of gallons left in the tank.

.

No direct experience but I have heard that it helps a bit, especially if mounted close to your mouth like on the visor.

The mic plugs into the left side of the integrated cradle. There is a small hole there that will accept a 2.5mm mic. From there, it interfaces to the nuvi through the 25-pin nuvi-to-cradle interface connector.

I would assume any 2.5mm mic would work. Since the Garmin mic retails for about $15 and can be found at online retailers for about $10, I would probably just stick with that.

The External Mic port

Is on the clip/cradle you hook up to the mount. The Garmin OEM external mic is reasonably priced any place I've seen it - and it's wired.

external microphone

I use the external Mic below on both Garmin types.
By visor mounting the mic closer you, you remove a lot of background noise and just sound much better to your caller.

Streetpilot or Nuvi
