City Navigator 2010 North America on Garmin Mobile XT

With City Navigator 2010 North America now available, does that mean that we are likely to see it available soon on a Garmin Mobile XT micro SD Card? Maybe even with TTS (Test To Speech)?

Hope so

I'm waiting for that as well. I wonder if TTS will be added as some mobile devices might not have the processing power?

....Cost?

I wonder what we will be charged for map updates for this?

OCN 8 looks like it is shipped without TTS, but end users with devices that have enough memory can upgrade to TTS. Perhaps Garmin could offer a new Garmin Mobile XT that way.

I purchased the lifetime map

I purchased the lifetime map updates (4/year updates is allowed) last month. Overall, I think this is a good value as it updates the maps and built-in POI's that Garmin loads into their units and maps.

Upon seeing this thread, I logged into the Garmin site (into the "my-garmin" section)and as soon as I did, my Nuvi 680 that is registered had a "pop-up" message that a map update was available.

I am in the process right now of downloading and then uploading it onto my Nuvi 680.

Very easy to do, but it takes 1-1/2 - 2 hours due to downloading, de-compressing, then loading... but it will be worth it when it is done.

Good luck to the rest of you... but the lifetime maps update seems reasonable to be current each year.

Will et you know what I think in a day or two (if I notice anything - if at all that is different).

Download went smoothly and

Download went smoothly and the new 2010 maps loaded into my 680 with no problems.

The unit re-booted and all is working well.

The downside.... I had to stay up past 1am to finish the download and install.

Good luck to all.
