Garmin to NMEA Translator Cable

Although I have been an amateur radio operator for a number of years, have owned scanners for over 30 years, and have had a GPS for several years, I have never really made the cross over from GPS to amateur radio or scanning. I am certainly aware of APRS in the amateur radio hobby. I also have a Uniden Bearcat scanner that is capable of using GPS data, but the problem for me has been that I like automobile navigators and they typically don't have a means to get the NMEA data. Just a bit ago while visiting another webpage I ran across a listing for the GTRANS Garmin to NMEA Translator Cable (D-Sub Style). It lists the following Garmin units as compatible:

* Garmin nüvi 300 series
* StreetPilot c340
* StreetPilot 7000 series
* StreetPilot 2820 series
* StreetPilot 2720 series
* zumo 400 series
* zumo 500 series

There is also a statement that"...you must have the GPS receiver powered through its cradle for the cable to function. Power will not be provided to the translator cable if the unit is on battery power..."

While I haven't been particularly active in the amateur radio hobby lately, this could be useful to a number of people.

Indeed it is useful. One

Indeed it is useful. One more thing, I really hope you can help me. How much does the cable cost in your area or do you order one online?
