TourGuide

I use the TourGuide in the file name and add distance from 1/4 to 1 1/4 mile.See post http://www.poi-factory.com/node/7043 6Th post down. This allows me to use express mode instead of the manual mode.

What exactly is the radius in distance?Have researched poiloader help,INTERNET and this site and have found nothing clear on what that radius is.Recently took a trip down I40 and set up Sonny's and Cracker Barrel using TourGuide in the name just to test and got only one alert for a Sonny's(clearly more then 50 ft from the road) that was close to the interstate.Even though I seen others on route but not as close to the interstate. Is there any clear data on this?

Tourguide use

I've always loaded tourguides in POIloader manual mode, rounding a mile to 5000 ft. 1/4 mile as 1250 and so on.

Be careful using tourguides as radial alerts could cause multiple alerts with unwanted results.

Your moving coordinate position is the point of reference. The radius distance is the distance that you set with the POI.

If you take your position and the distance of your setting as the radius and draw a circle (you in the center), the alert will sound anywhere in that radial area relative to your actual position. Just like drawing a circle on a piece of paper with a compass.

Hope this helps.

TourGuide in manual mode

If I create a POI file with TourGuide in the name, but use the manual mode to install the file (where I can specify a distance), will this override my TourGuide setting (ie: radius versus a straight distance on a road ....)?

I have not used tourguide

I have not used tourguide POIs, but I would think the priority would be the same as Proximity Alerts - Manual Mode settings override filename settings.

When TourGuide is in the

When TourGuide is in the file name it will be a radius alert, doing a manual install will expand or contract the radius to be alerted from the default. It will not make it a straight line alert.

See this post on TourGuide

See this post on TourGuide http://www.poi-factory.com/node/13904 .It has a lot of information and covers the subject very well.

chloeourdog.I have the same gps you have and you can use wav files for voice alerts. It is a big plus for custom pois and TourGuide files.

Thanks for the information - your link was very helpful! I am using the ATT - Text to Speach website to generate .wav files that work great on the 265WT.

I use that site a lot

I use that site a lot too.Boodee has been converting all the mp3 files to wav on the site and lots of them are starting to show up now.Sure appears like a lot of members have the Nuvi 265.
