Missing POI's

Hello All,

I just loaded the latest City Navigator Europe NT Update Map to my SD card. Everything seems to be working except the pre-populated POI's (Food, Fuel, Transit, Lodging,...). All that comes up is "spell name" They must be part of the .img file because on the North America map under Garmin there is no POI files, only the custom ones I loaded. Do I have to be in Europe for these to show up or maybe because I loaded the Update map and not the original?

?

Did you try setting your location to Europe?

Did you originally purchase the full version of the European maps?

Not sure what you mean by

Not sure what you mean by setting my location to Europe. I selected the Europe map and unselected the North America map under "maps, maps info".

I believe I have the update, not the full version. I'm not sure how to tell. A friend gave it to me to try out.

Thanks for the help!!

Via any number of techniques, you can turn off the satellite reception and artificially set your current location to any point. Easiest is to tap the map and drag it to where you want to be. Tap the screen at the point where you want to establish the location to set the pointer, and hit the button at the bottom to "set location."

Unless the European maps are different than the US, that won't work. An update only updates an original. Also, you can't install a single update onto multiple units.

Yeah, that definitely won't work. You would need to have a valid unused unlock codes in order to use the maps with your GPS unit.

All City Navigator maps are locked and can only be used with a GPS unit if they are unlocked to that unit.

And the update version will only work if you already have the full version.

If I enable the Europe map

If I enable the Europe map and disable the North America map, turn off/on the nuvi 260 I still get the map of north america even in simulation mode. I think it remembers the last location (in North America). I can search for an address, say in Italy, but it runs out of memory before it can calculate the route. I was curious to see how I was getting there lol.

Anyhow, I believe I do need the full install. The map is unlocked and I do have a valid unlock code. I checked in mapsource.

Thanks again!!

You have to set your location there for them to show up. You are probably using a hacked version with the unlock code removed if a friend is letting you try out an update map. This site does not condone or approve of such things so be carefull. If you need the Europe maps, please purchase them. If I am wrong here I apologize to you.

That could be rebel, but I'm

That could be rebel, but I'm not spending $100 just to try it out. When I go there I'll purchase. Too many times I got burnt by purchasing first and asking questions later smile. I was trying to see if the Europe map had the same functionality as the NA map pertaining to searching by POI's for food, fuel,...

I did turn off the gps and found that I can drag the screen over to get to Europe. Pretty cool!!

Thanks again!!
