I want a new Garmin, which one?

Ok, I have been out of the whole GPSr scene for awhile. However, I want to buy a new GPSr that has the same features as my 350 and more (such as PSL). Which one is the best to get?

love my 765t

I had the nuvi 360 and upgraded to the 765t ... been real happy with it, and have had none of the problems that a couple other members have experienced.

Being in the VA area, you'll love the traffic feature! I travel down that way often, and the traffic on my nuvi has saved me hours worth of windshield time.

Great, thanks. I never used

Great, thanks. I never used the traffic part. I really just want to have the TTS, sat. display, display of coordinates.

Well, it might be a little

Well, it might be a little more than you want to get but after buying the 885T, I'm sold on the voice activation and removable battery. I also purchased the lifetime MSN Direct and the lifetime Map updates, so I think I am set for a while.

Get the 755T if you don't

Get the 755T if you don't mind the cost. No problems so far.

Routes

I recommend the routes feature of the 760. It has been used more than I imagined. Made a christmas light display route for the extended family of the city - and made for a very pleasant evening with zero stress.

It would be hard for me to get a different gps without it.

New GPS

It sounds like a 255W will fill your needs, if you also don't need Bluetooth. Around $200. at Amazon.

Here is a top 10 list

Amazon

You can get a new Nuvi 760 at Amazon for $226 incl. free ship. I can't imagine a "better" deal. Dont' hesitate, I believe the 760 is officially discontinued so the time is right to get a fabulous value.

The site above is just a report of which reviews had the most hits on thier own site... useless info.

As far as the Nuvi, I'd go for the 760 if you can still find it. I love my 750, but do wish it had the Blue Tooth that differentiates it from the 760. Never had any problems with it so I would assume the 760 would be just as good of a deal.

Which one....

I think for the money it's hard to beat the 760.
I paid around $250 total for it and think it's well
worth every penny. A few small pronunciation glitches here and there, but all-in-all it's great. As many reviews have said The FM transmitter isn't very strong, but it's not TOO bad. The routes feature is great and it's nice to have the traffic rx in the box there with it.

My $.02

Personally I wouldn’t have a traffic equipped GPS if the unit cannot store routes.

I believe the 760 is an excellent value and it can store routes.

Great, thanks everyone. So do all the models have the PSL now?

Phone?

How's the phone integration on the Garmin units that support it? Is the sound quality any good? Does the other side hear just you or do they hear a bunch of car background noise?

new GPS

I have the nuvi 255w with traffic (msn direct) worked well my wife is using the nuvi 255w and have nuvi 760 with traffic (msn direct) I did not like having to push traffic interface button on nuvi 255w. I liked the nuvi 255w shows your speed on bottom left of screen and tell what next turn is coming up on upper left of screen. You will have to go to weather screen to see forecast, radar and alert. The nuvi 255w locks on signal much faster and works inside better than the nuvi 760. Which will help while traveling under tunnels

The nuvi 760 with traffic (msn direct) let’s u dial phone gives weather warning on screen. The nuvi 760 tells about traffic without having to push a traffic interface button. It does not show speed while in navigate mode just like the nuvi 350. The user interface is different on both models
Hope this helps

Mark

I'll take a stab at it.

Thanks everyone. i really

Thanks everyone. i really don't care about traffic. I really just want to see the PSL (Posted Speed Limit) and be able to do routes. I also want to have TTS.

Yeah, Rayzers, I have been on Facebook a lot and a radar detector forum (I got a new one, which renewed my interest).

Compare On Garmin Site

Once nice thing about Garmin's website is it allows you to compare models against each other.

I'd suggest you make a list of features you're looking for (screen size, bluetooth or not, TTS voices or not, traffic guidance or not etc. Then go to the Garmin site and (after choosing "on the road" put checkmarks in each of the boxes on the left side of the screen that match items you want. Once done with that you might be presented with one or several models that meet your needs. You can then compare them to narrow the choices.

Cheers

Asianfire;

What you really need is the Nuvi 750. It does everything you are looking for without traffic, or Bluetooth. It is the perfect match for your desire. It has been discontinued by Garmin, and it's very cheap at Amazon or SAMs Club.

PSL

Yes the Nuvi 760 does have PSL for major streets.
Not all I think that has to do witht the mapping software.
Love mine.
Use it for driving and my hand held for hiking, biking and sailing.
My brother in law just got the Oregon.
So I am eager to see that one.
We are traveling to Italy next month,
so we will be comparing them, I’m sure.

Nice chart but not complete. I noticed it didn't ask if you wanted the ability to store routes. IMO a must have with the traffic option if using to get to/from work or any preplanned destination covered by traffic.

I agree. The Nuvi 780 has everything. This unit sold for $800 last year, today you can get if from Costco Online for less than $250.

I have the 760 and really

I have the 760 and really like it. The bluetooth is not that great. I would suggest getting a bluetooth headset. Works better. But the 760 has been a great performer. Hear Costco had it for 780 (760 + MSN) for $249.00.

Hear the 265 is good, too.
