SD Card help for the Nuvi 255w

Just got a SD memory card and loaded a bunch of POI and maps, etc which is too much to put onto device itself, and everytime i turn on my nuvi a screen pops up stating something like "PROGRAMS FOUND ON MEMORY CARD. DO YOU WANT TO INSTALL ON DEVICE TO USE INCASE MEMORY CARD IS REMOVED..Y/N?"

My question is is there anyway to stop this or disable it (other than take memory card out)? It gets annoying seeing it everytime i turn on the nuvi?

Click on yes and it should

Click on yes and it should take you to screen to select don't ask me again.

On those devices which don't offer the checkbox on the first screen to not ask anymore, saying yes brings up a second screen for each gpi file on the card; those screens allow you to say "No" to each file AND they give you the checkbox to quit asking.

So, you must say yes if you mean no. rolleyes

It is undoubtedly the most counter-intuitive piece of programming I have ever seen.

I tried it and it worked

Why have it ask you to install just to check a box to not ask anymore and tell it to skip ... but it worked!

It will ask you this when:

Whenever you add new data to the SD card, such as a new POI file or other new data. As it boots up and sees the new data it asks if you want to install it to internal memory and if you say yes at the first screen it gives you the option at the next screen to check a box to not show the message again and skip loading the data to internal memory (which you won't see until you change the data on the SD card.)

SD Card issue

I see the same message, say no, but then I could not find my data anywhere. Where it should be? I looked at POI, Favorites - nothing. What am i doing wrong?

Touch where to,extras then

Touch where to,extras then touch custom pois.

SD card help

No, it won't load your data into internal memory if you tell it no on the 2nd screen. It will still be able to access the data from the card as long as the card is in the unit. My 750 does the same thing and it's a pain in the a--. I can't figure out why it even asks, if I had wanted the data in internal memory, I'd have put it there to start with.

As for traffic, I don't have an answer for you. My 750 doesn't have traffic but I'd say that your favorites should still show on the map. Does turning on MSN Direct cause the display to zoom out? If so, that might be the reason.

If you answer yes to the prompt "Found new data" and then on the next screen tell it to not nag again and skip, it won't be like a bad mother-in-law.

Does this apply to the nuvi 350? On the 350 there is only a cancel and ok button.

Cancel and OK in response to what notice?

Are you saying that a screen pops up saying that new data has been discovered on the card and then offers only two buttons -- cancel and OK? If that is what you are seeing you should choose OK and I believe it then behaves like the 660 asking whether you wish to transfer the new data to the unit itself AND it immediately provides a checkbox to stop asking and a "No" button. I don't believe you ever have to choose "Yes" on the 350 when you mean "No".
