Editing favorites: "reposition here"

My handheld Etrex Venture CX has a feature that allows you to edit a waypoint (aka "favorite") by choosing "Reposition Here". What this does is change the location of the waypoint in the unit's memory, to your current location. Do any of the Nuvis have a similar feature? Frequently I will enter an address, and when I reach my destination I find that the coordinates are not accurate. It would be nice to be able to change the coordinates easily and quickly so that the Nuvi guides me to the front of the building, or the main parking lot, instead of some point a couple of hundred feet away.

only way I know is to use mapsource

This is not easily done on a Nuvi, at least as far as I know. I have a friend who's address was very far off when the nuvi guided me to his house as input by address. When I finally got to the proper location I saved it as an additional favorite. But I could find no way within the nuvi to change the coordinates of the first waypoint, or to add the address and telephone number to the second waypoint, which would then let me just delete the first incorrect waypoint. And I wanted to keep the address and telephone contact information.

I was finally able to edit the waypoint by importing them to Mapsource, change the coordinates, and resave the waypoints to the nuvi. So I do now have a correctly located waypoint with addres and phone information. It's a shame that it has to be done this way, but it's better than not being able tro do it at all.

You can on the 765T. If you

You can on the 765T. If you save to favorites, you can then pick that favorite, choose edit, and then make changes - though not coordinates. But under your scenario you could keep the second correct location and change the name, telephone number, put into a category, etc.... then delete the wrong one.

By the way, another alternative, I use a POI editor, it takes my favorites, and makes them a poi file. Doing this, I can change coordinates and anything else I want. Of course they won't be listed under favorites, but are easily found in a category I make in my POI files called favorites.

Easier way:

There is an easier way to edit your Favorites: Use the Extra_POI_Editor from turbo_ccc (available at http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor). Connect your Nüvi to your computer and "Open" the Current.gpx file in the Garmin folder. You can then edit it in great details including changing address, phone number, name, icon, and coordinates as you wish. You then simply "Save" that file back and your Favorites will be corrected.
