MapSource software version 6.15.4 now available

rjrse,

Thanks a lot for the quick notice about this new version.

Garmin had/has a lot to work out with the newest Mapsource products. But it looks like they're trying.

Route Rubber Band

Can someone tell me if this new release solves the problems with the "rubber band" re-routing feature? Thanks.

I'll give it a try

I'll give it a try and see whassup!

Advice for "Upgrading"

I'm still using 6.13.7. If anyone has used 6.13.7 as well as the newest version I would appreciate your advice on whether I should upgrade. Simply put, would I be gaining more than I would be losing? (I say losing because you always seem to lose something with Garmin "upgrades".)

give it a try because you can always just reinstall 6.13.7

Just give it a try because you can always just reinstall 6.13.7 if you do not like the changes. I think the later versions are far better from a visual standpoint and you now can select the icon size.

Mapsource 6.15.4

Why not have both versions available to you? 6.15.4 still has some issues, but graphically, it is much nicer looking.

You can do it by renaming the old Mapsource.exe file as Mapsource6137.exe and saving it in its same folder.

This way you will be able to execute either or both versions.

Me, too

hope it works

I hope this fixes the problem I've been having with my 2720 recently. In the past couple of months, my GPS has stopped providing accurate ETA on routes that include waypoints.

I always manage my routes on Mapsource, so I really hope this fixes it. It has been a very annoying and frustrating problem.

Rubber Banding

Felix Krull wrote:

I downloaded the new release and did a quick test of the rubber band feature. It seemed to work much better than the old release. Tried it 6-8 times and was able to trigger the rubber band in all but one case. Hope that helps.

Laptop Hard Drive Crash lost Mapsource

My Laptops Hard drive crashed today and I had not backed it up since my last map upgrade that added Mapsource to my system. I have ask Garmin if it is possible to get one more download so I can can recover. It has only been three weeks since I updated. Does anyone have any insight into my chances?

Of course I preach to my friends to backup at least weekly and here I don't do it my self. sad

.

Download the Training Center from Garmin:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835

Install it. This will also install MapSource without any previous installation required.

Then download the MapSource update:

Install it.

Mapsource update

Thanks for the info. I am new at this. After updating mapsource, which I was able to do, will it automatically go to my nuvi 760?

Not sure what you mean by automatically...

But the one problem I see is if you lost your updated maps you won't have them without another download or getting Garmin to send you a disk...

Rubber Bands Seem to Snap

I installed the new release and played around with the rubber band facility. It does seem as though they have it working like it used to a couple of releases back -- that is to say, it's working again.

(Note to anyone from Garmin who might be reading this: We've actually been in the Twenty-First Century for several years now. Don't you think you could give your users the option to decide for themselves where they'd like to install the MapSource software? Or have you become like Microsoft, convinced that you and only you know what's best for your users? SHEESH!)

My fault!

In the wp folder the files were of the type png, don't know how they came there?? Removed the MS and reinstalled. Works. Sorry for bother evrybody!
