Nuvi 7 series splash screen

Please, can any body help me?
I am trying to upload a custom splash screen to a 7 series garmin nuvi. Have tried ximage upload and cannot find my device. Is it possibe to do? If it is what are the steps????
Regards

Just create JPG 480 x 212 and copy it to the JPG directory

Just create a JPG 480 x 212 and copy it using whatever file program you normally use to the Garmin GPS's JPG directory. Then go to the GPS's picture viewer and select it and check the box to make it the startup splash screen.

I used MS Paint to put my name and phone # in the appropriate places. Scroll through the album for others.

.

I remember on the nuvi 350, once you changed the splash screen with one of your own, the original splash screen that was pre-loaded on the unit (in non-user accessible memory) was wiped out and you had to resort to using an inferior quality splash screen (compared to the pre-loaded screen) if you wanted the original splash screen back. Is this the case with the newer 7x0 models or is the original splash screen retained on the unit?

wow, that's pretty bad programming on Garmin's part if that's true.
