yes you can.
all you need is the voice that you use, and you can make room by removing the rest.

Yes you certainly can but the amount of memory you get back by deleting voices (and extra vehicles, etc) is not that much.
I don't know how you plan to use more space but if you really want more useful memory for music, POI's, additional maps etc, consider just getting a 2-4 gig SD memory card. Shop around, they are very inexpensive these days. Under $10 for 2 gig and probably about $15 for 4 gig.

Deleting Voices
I found the savings to be substantial after deleting all the voice, text, and help files. I keep all the English ones and also Spanish.

Plus I removed the Spanish. Just remember that the Language Dictionary won't work.

I deleted all the voices and only kept the english speaking voices then downloaded the two newest ones from Garmin.com.
