Multiple Folders

I'm surprised your searches didn't find Motorcycle Moma's explanation. This describes the structure you build on your computer:

The folders will create categories. You can't have more than one level of subfolder. The files themselves will create the subcategory.

For example, it might look like this.

> My POI (Main folder)
>> IHOP (subfolder)
... IHOP.csv
... IHOP.bmp
>> National Parks (subfolder)
... National Parks.gpx
... National Monuments.gpx
... National Recreation areas.gpx
... National Parks.bmp
... National Monuments.bmp
etc.

In this example, IHOP and National Parks show up as categories and then under National Parks, the subcategories of National Parks, National Monuments, and National Recreation Areas show up.

Are you asking if you can have more than one main folder? Such as:

> Custom poi
Sub Folder
> Pictures
Sub Folder

I think he is talking about under Extras. I believe that only Custom POI will show, upon clicking that, you will be given your folder set.

You are on the right track... I'm trying to have a My POI #1 and a POI #2 in your example. This way I have an easier way to find what I'm looking for. Two or more main folders would be nice.

You can't add another element directly under Extras for your Custom POIs. Your Custom POI categories (if you use them) will only show up under Custom POIs.

You point POI Loader to My POI, but that name never shows up in the categories. Under Extras/Custom-POI, you will find all of the subfolders listed as categories. Under each of those categories, you will find categories named after the filenames. Under each filename, you find the locations. If you make the subfolders "My POI 1" and My POI 2", you will lose one level of categories and all files will then be in that subfolder -- National Parks, Walmarts, IHops, etc. It is not a question of getting close to what you want; it is just how the things work.

You can have an additional folder under "Extra" if you have Fodor's North America Travel Guide installed (http://gpsmagazine.com/2007/05/review_garmin_travel_guide_fo...). However, all POI that you upload to Garmin (using Garmin POI Loader) will appear under "Custom POIs". Hope that answer your question.
