I have tried to find on the site on how do you load music onto my 760. I have itunes and would like to load my play list to the garmin. Can some one help or show me the thread . I have tried everything that I know and no luck. Thanks
Loading Music
I use a SDHC card in mine and just copy the files to the card. You don't have to use a special program (i.e. poiloader) to get it done.
As I don't use itunes I can't tell you specifically for it. However, as I said just copy and paste or tell it to "sync" to the memory card.
Let me know if this helps

I see iTunes and think are you using a Mac or PC?

If it's a PC you can go to your itune folder or My music folder in my documents and drag and drop the mp3 files to your 760's sd card or to the 760 itself...
Edit: I just looked in my itune folder and the files aren't mp3 files they are m4p files... (protected) So you may have to convert them to mp3 files...

Convert First
Your GPS will only look for MP3 files so you'll have to convert the Apple format (unless you kept all your original MP3's someplace. You can use WinAmp (it's free) to produce playlists that the Garmin can use.
Cheers

As I was waiting for all of your replys I kept playing with it and have figured it out thank to you all.

Hijack: Setting in iTunes to save MP3?
I just looked in my itune folder and the files aren't mp3 files they are m4p files... (protected) So you may have to convert them to mp3 files...
Oh Dear - Just got an iPOD for Christmas and used iTunes to rip a couple CD's to add to my existing library of MP3's. I see that iTunes saved it's files as M4a instead of MP3. Quicktime plays them but of course the Nuvi won't. I don't recall seeing a setting in iTunes to save as MP3, even though it happily loads and plays MP3's. Will I have to convert everything that was ripped via iTunes?
There are batch conversion program out there
That will convert M4a to MP3 - you can try one of those; or - yes, there's an iTunes setting for importing to select what import encoder you use which results in saving MP3 files.
To export your iTunes purchased music - you have to burn it to a CD, then rip the CD to MP3 - I did that with my iTunes library - but when it came to ripping the CDs to MP3, I did not use iTunes to do that.

On my ver of iTunes, the setting is under edit/preferences/Advanced-Tab/Importing. Once your settings have mp3 as the importing format, you can convert any m4a files to mp3 by selecting your song(s) and right-clicking. No need to rip and re-import.

Good point. Although iTunes can convert m4a files to mp3, m4p (protected) files require something like SoundTaxi.

Sweet that works realy good, I didn't even know that could be done. I have a roxio recordnow program but it can only convert one at a time and I have 1400 plus to do, it would take me yrs, now all I have to do is hit select all, then hit create mp3 version and it is done in seconds, all the songs are now mp3.
I tell ya this info is priceless thanks.

It will take more than a few seconds, and you end up with a duplicate of each song. One is each format.
You can then go into the music folder and sort by file type and cut/paste all the mp3's out.

Well, that was very timely info! I only had about 4 CD's worth of files ripped using iTunes to convert to MP3. It never occurred to me to actually check the filetypes afterwards. iTunes converted them in one batch operation, too. Slick! I have yet to buy any music with iTunes. Will the "Convert to MP3" option convert a purchased song to a MP3 that will play on the Nuvi?
In a word no...
But soundtaxi will...
Edit: But you should burn a cd anyway, then you can rip the cd.

If I end up with a publicly playable MP3 by using soundtaxi, what would the benefit be to burning a CD and then ripping from there? Sounds like a round-about way to do it.
None
You just wouldn't have to burn the CD... Which I always do as protection.... I actually use SoundTaxi for audio books I down load from the library...
