Help me with something...
I have the red light camera thing and when i get close to one it alerts me w/ a popup message on my map area, in the center of the map just above the vehicle icon, saying redlight camera along with the code.
Is it normal for it to pop up in the middle of the screen, i thought the top part of the map (where its green and list the street/s) was to turn RED and say in text RED LIGHT CAMERA blah blah blah..
Dont get me wrong this alert is fine with me...
Just more curious i guess.

The alert pops up differently depending on model. The 600 Nuvies the band across the top of the map changes color depending on the type of alert (green to red for example when a red light or speed camera is coming up). On my 760 there's a drop down alert from the band on top that contains the text. You don't mention your model but obviously it's different still. Consider it normal.
Sorry its a Nuvi 255w...
Didnt know if it was a model thing or a software thing.
I'm not the resident expert on other models. But, on my 760 if I'm in any other screen besides the map view, I get an actual pop-up screen that takes up the entire nuvi window. If I'm in the map view, it gives the correct drop-down one-liner alert message.
Yes, on the 255 Nuvi that is were it will show up. I also have a 260 Nuvi and it shows along the top bar. The information bar on my 260 is larger and easier to read. I wish that keep that pop up on the top of my 255W
I have a nuvi 205 and it pops up a small grey window int he middle of the screen. It would have been nice if they would have made it easier to read.
Just curious, is the alert screen on your 205 always gray? On my 660 and 760 they're different colors depending on the type of alert. Gray for low level (stores etc) and red for more urgent (speed camera) alerts. I seem to recall there's a green screen too but maybe not.
I've only seen gray, I've tested tourguide, specs, redlight, speed cameras and each one shows in a small gray popup box.
The alert box is red on my 350, gray on my 750/760 and gray on my 765 with a much smaller alert box and text that is harder to see, notice and read. I've never seen any other colors but then I only have redlight camera POIs on the units. I don't know if the alert type has any effect on what color the alert box is.
Did you download and install one of the Redlight Camera Icons? The top band on my 350 turns red and I have a vocal alert. I also get an icon on my display showing the location of the camera.
does what you thought yours would do!
I did add a redlight icon, which displays at the proper intersection on the map at the proper time.
I don't know if the alert type has any effect on what color the alert box is.
It does on the 760. It's Grey for Proximity and Red for a Speed alert.
Actually, I think it is also grey for speed alerts unless your speed is above the set alert speed. Of course if the alert speed is set to 0, you would get a red alert by just moving.
I have both a Nuvi 205 and 265 WT, both pop up with a grey window, but it is not necessarly in the middle of the screen it normally shows up next to the icon for the location of the camera on both units.
My Garmin 340 and Nuvi 270 both turn red on top of screen. I would think it has to do with each gpsr model.
same here, all my alerts are grey...
mines not dead on in the middle, i just didnt want to get into great detail about the position of the alert...
I have a Nuvi 660. The alert shows up as a red line on top of the map.
yeah...wished mine did that...
