Automatic Power Down of Nuvi 205?

I have only had my Garmin nuvi for a few days, but it seems that when it is on vehicle power, it never powers down. I had a Magellan that could sense inactivity (that it was not moving) and would power down after 20 minutes. Is there a way to configure the Garmin in a similar manner?

Not

Not that I am aware of. Will be getting a 760 next week and will look into it.

On my c580 I usually keep it plugged in all the time, (MSN and park my work van in the garage). I just tap the power button and it "powers" down into "sleep" mode. In the morning I hit the power button and it comes right up with the sat signal still locked in and ready to go.

Does your cigarette lighter power off when the ignition is turned off? Sounds as if it is one of the automobile models that doesn't power down. Normally when power is turned off it offers the option of turning the unit off, or telling it to stay on using battery power -- if you choose neither, it automatically turns off. I can't imagine a unit that turns off just because it detects no movement.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Sure you weren't thinking of a screen blanker?

Ny 350 and 760 will turn off the backlight after a period of inactivity while running on battery. This blanking is not related to movement, though. And they will power off automatically when the battery gets low. But that's it. I'm not sure I would want it to power off after sensing no movement for a period of time, especially if it was running on external power.

The nuvi will stay on as long as it is receiving power. It doesn't work like the Magellan did.
