TourGuide Problem

I wonder where I am going wrong here. I use the Garmin Nuvi660.
I have two files i.e. TourGuide Church.gpx & TourGuide Church.jpg in a folder named Places.
I have loaded them via POILoader.

In simulation, when I arrive at the waypoint destination to which I have attached the
.jpg file nothing happens apart from saying that I have arrived. No photo???

Thanks

If your asking why icon doesn't show-up it needs to be TourGuide Church.bmp file name 22 x 22 pixels.

If your asking it to show photo of the tour location it needs to be TourGuide Church.bmp file name with file size smaller than 200k. It will be available when you view poi additional info.

Another member mentioned the photo can be about 1.5M but I found larger photos file sizes reduce amount of additional info which could be linked to poi.

TourGuide

Thanks a lot will try all of that.

A couple of things...

  1. TourGuides are a special form of Audio Alert. Jpegs are not part of their remit sad
  2. To associate a JPEG with a POI, you have to do it using the <link> gpx statement, on a per-poi statement. You can't associate one JPEG with every POI, in the same way that you can associate a BMP icon.
The end-result is a JPEG that can be manually selected - but will never 'pop-up' on its own accord, or anything like that.

.BMP

Thanks again.

I have followed all of the links etc. and got to the point where, when close to
the WP I get the sound alert ok and a tiny rectangle…(presume this is the .bmp) also appears but cannot really be identified as a photograph??

The dimensions of the .bmp are W:272px and H:204px.while the size is 162 kb.

I would obviously like to see the photograph fit the screen or at least to the point where it is recognisable.

Would appreciate your assistance to resolve.

Your Nüvi does not have this functionality sad

You can specify a (small) .bmp file to use as an Icon. You can also specify a .jpg file to display manually as part of the POI detail.

(It is possible to have an icon 'pop-up' as part of the alert banner. However, this functionality cannot be enabled using POILoader. Garmin use it for their Safety Camera database).
