Version 4.30 for Nuvi 750

Due to some issues with my old 750, I now have a new one with Software version 4.30- GPS SW Version 2.80m.
Has anyone else seen this version yet? Garmin's site
does not have it listed as the most recent version, nor can I find any reference as to what was "correct/updated"
in 4.30.... just curious.

Some Already Have 4.50

Heck, some new 750 units already have 4.50!! Check out this thread, Racer X even provided a picture. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/18398?page=1

The latest public release is 4.20. Anything above that is only available on new units. My guess is that Garmin is now using new customers as guinea pigs.

I wonder if it's the chip

From the picture of the 750 with firmware v4.5, it has GPS software version 2.80m (and shows a tab for Extras & Safety cameras, which my 750 does not have). My older 750 with the latest 4.2 firmware shows GPS Software 3.00s. I believe the "s" and "m" indicate a different chip in the GPS and it may be that these different 750s will have different features and different "latest" firmware versions.

What do the rest of you think of this theory?

The older 750s have this chipset: SiRFstarIII (type G) : Latest firmware version : FW v3.00s

The newer 750s (made in/after the summer of '08) have this chipset: MTK v1 - MTK3318 (type M/M2): Latest firmware version : FW v2.80m

Nuvi SW v4.20 corrected some

Nuvi SW v4.20 corrected some issues with voice stutter, but had some issues with multipoint routing beyond a certain number of points. When I tried to optimize a multipoint route that looped back to the beginning, the endpoint was deleted and one of the other points was duplicated. Hopefully that is resolved in one of the newer versions.

Mine had the MTK chip and originally GPS SW v2.60m. There was a rather anomymous type M update in the extra Webupdates (no version details) that upgraded that to v2.80m. My eTrex also has an MTK chip and both are sensitive enough to easily get a fix inside the 1st floor of my 2 story home (usually impossible with my old GPS 45).
