Choice: StreetPilot 2720 or nuvi 750 ?

Last night my friend recommand StreetPilot 2720 to me, as this type support multi-way point, and can use MapSource in computer. But in the past two weeks, I want buy nuvi 750, I need the function of route. And I also want use MapSource in conputer. Which type should I select? Can anyone give me suggest? Thanks a lot.

750

I recommend the 750, It will do what you need. Cosco and Same's Club had them on line for less than $200 this week.

750

I have the 2720 and it is a very nice device. I'm very happy with it. But, the Nuvi 750 is newer, it is much smaller and that is a big advantage. To avoid theft of the 2720, I cannot put it in my pocket because it is too big, so I have to leave it in the car.

The 2720 can manage more routes, but the 2720 is now obsolete. The 750 has mp3 options to allow more customization of the the unit.

Although I owe and love the 2720, the 750 is probably the way to go (assuming the 10 route storage limitation is OK).

750 is not limited to 10 stored routes

One can store way more than 10 routes on the 750. I've had close to 70 at one time. Use MapSource to create and transfer as many routes to the Nuvi as you want (or save the MapSource file as a .gpx file on your computer and use windows to copy this file directly into the GPX subfolder on the Nuvi). All the routes will be stored in the Nuvi and all will show as being available for import. The limit of 10 only refers to the number of routes you can have imported at any one time. When the imported limit is reached, simply delete one or more of the imported routes and import others you have stored on the Nuvi.

Good choice buying the 760 (although the 2600/2700 models are still my favorites because they're so feature rich). You have to either purchase MapSource (I see some City Guide North America versions on eBay for about $10) or call Garmin and ask if you can be sent a copy, gratis. I've seen posts on this forum indicating the phone call can get you the freebie. It's worth a shot.

Cheers wink

I have the nuvi 750 and it works great.

ohwogo nuvi 750

I vote for the 750

I have a 2720 and the wife has a 760. I'll take my wife's 260 over mine if I had to make a choice. The only benefit I see in favor of the 2720 is the speaker location.

When I bought the 760 it did not come with the 2009 map DVD. A call to Garmin provided me with one for free including shipping.

I also create routes, waypoints, etc on MapSource and upload them to all of my GRSr's.

Jeff...... Nuvi 2460, Nuvi 2595

New vs. old

I have both a new and an old model. I like the older model best for it's operational features, routing, and better sound. The newer unit has BT, which is nice. If I replace the the 2610 it will be with a nuvi 880, it's as good as the 2610 with all the newer features.

Thank you. I will try.

Thank you. I will call Garmin today. But I don't make sure I can get this because I am in Canada.

MapSource FREE download

Simply download MapSource here:

http://www8.garmin.com/software/MapSource_6137.exe

or from here:

http://www.gpsinformation.org/perry/msource/MapSource_6137.e...

(Note that this is an older version. Don't download/use 6.14.1 as it is SLOW as molasses)

Rename the file you've just downloaded adding the .zip extension (MapSource_6137.exe.zip), then double-click & extract all the files in the zip archive to a folder.

Within that folder will be a file named MAIN.msi. Simply double-click & run MAIN.msi and MapSource will install, even if you don't have a current version installed on your PC. Don't run setup.exe as this is the file that does the "previous version" check and will not proceed if you don't already have a version of MapSource already on your PC.

*Note that this will only install the MapSource application and NO mapping data.

You can use MapSource to transfer Maps (if installed)/Waypoints (or Favorites)/Routes/Tracks to & from your GPS/PC (among other things).

I am in Canada as well and I was able to get it no problem. Came in directly via the postal service, no charges etc. It just took a couple of weeks because they did not have it in stock at the time.

It did not cost me a thing. Thanks Garmin.

After I install MapSource, when I run MapSource, it pop up a dialog_box say "MapSource could not find any installed MapSource map product." and then exit.
I just want to transfer this map from my GPS.

May you tell me how can do this?

Anyway, thank you very much.

I am in Canada, but Garmin cost me for MapSource.

I just call the Garmin, but the lady say I must pay $10 for MapSource, and this is promotion price, she say it is $69.99 as normal price, I don't know why the Garmin cost me.

To DorkusNimrod, may you answer me my question?
