I tried three of them but didn't find the display speed difference among them.

Track Up, North Up, 3D
I use "Track Up" most of the time myself.
3D
I prefer using 3D when using the Nuvi in my car.

In the car I use track up
In the car I use track up nearly 100% of the time, and 3D. But I agree with Craig W - for hiking or kayaking I prefer North up.

3D track up
3D track up is what I use exclusively

Track up always - saves time (in brain processing....)
No idea if one is quicker on the Nuvi but my navigation was learned from paper maps so 2D is my preferred mode. I use track up for situational awareness - don't have to mentally compute where the road is going in track up - so saves brain power/time.
Track Up
I have been using the 3D, but I am going to try the track up for a while to see what it's like.

Try this the next time you take a long trip
Set your GPSr to 3D. Zoom way out during a long travel segment. The display will switch to 2D track up. As you get closer to the next turn or your destination, the display will automatically zoom in to maintain that trip segment on the screen. Eventually it will switch to 3D mode and continue zooming in until you reach the turn point or destination.
Orientation
Track up seems to be the best way to keep oriented and see what intersections are coming up.
North Up all the time
I find it gives a better overall perspective of the map.

3D Screen
I only use the 3D mode. Track up seems boring to me lol. Just that there doesn't seem to be much eye candy that I prefer as in 3D.

2D or not 2D - that is the question

But isn't 3D track up also? My use of 3D still had the vehicle centered at the bottom of the screen with the route going toward the center top, the same as 2D. The difference being how the track was presented.

I use track up. On the Nuvi
I use track up. On the Nuvi 270 I see choices of 3D, 2D, or track up. I don't see how I can do a track up and 3D. Does 3D incorporate track up??
