Garmin Giveth & Garmin Taketh Away With The 760?

My new Nuvi 760 arrived yesterday and I've 'updated' it with all my poi, waypoint and other info from the 660. Everything works fine and location accuracy is within a couple of feet of the 660 even inside the house.

Now, maybe I'm missing something but every Garmin I've ever had (with voice capability) has offered an option to turn off the pushbutton tone. On the 760 all I can find is a 'mute' option that kills all sound. Curiously I can't find any other comment on this apparently loss of function using 'search' on this forum so suspect I've taken a wrong turn (ha!) someplace.

So, 760 owners, HELP, where's the touch tone "off" button (obviously I want the speaker on for voice prompts etc). There are several other on/off toggles missing (compared to the 660) but deleting the tone toggle is just weird.

Cheers wink

Maddening, isn't it?

Nope - no button mute for the 760. Seems crazy how they add new features that we gotta have, but take away simple stuff that we have grown used to.

My 350 lets me set the amount of time before the screen backlight goes off when running on battery only. And it has an on-screen North indicator on the map display. Both are gone on the 760. Neither are a deal breaker for me, just puzzling.

I'm with you

I've notice the same thing. Figured I must be missing something, but no. The 760 is missing something!

"New" features...

They'll give those options back in the 900 series as "new" features... in say the 900 series.

The 750 lost the north arrow the 350 has but the 755 has it back.

I'd love to put the tone off or at 20% volume.
