Multiple Route Option - Nuvi 760

I have searched the forums and didn't come up with my question so: Does the 760 have the capability of proposing different routes to a location? If so, how do I program it?

Multiple Routes

far as I know, the only settings for routes are Shortest Distance and Fastest Route. Sometimes you will get a different route. You should be able to create your own route on the 760. I can on my 780.

Not Really

The only thing you can do to force a different route is to select Detour while en route. The Nuvi will then attempt to calculate a new route.

TT

That is one feature I wish Garmin would adopt/borrow/steal from TomTom. They have a 'Travel Via' icon. You plan your route then click to the roads/freeway you want to take rather than what it wants to take you on.

The directions are frustrating at times but it will get you there. Sometimes, I mute it until I get to a section where I really need directions.

You can use multipoint route

If you want to take a different route than it plans automatically, you can set up multipoint routes and use the map (instead of address, etc.) to zoom in and set a via point on a road close to the way you want to go.

Or you can use detour as you go, or simply go your own way (passing a suggested turn) and it will recalculate the rest of the route. Of course if you start heading the opposite direction from your destination it may tell you to make a U-turn.

Garmin has the same thing

With Garmin, you pick your destination. Then hit Where To again and pick a via point(s). It will ask if you want to set a new destination or a Via Point. Select Via Point and you have accomplished the same thing.

Since you have the 760 which supports routes, you can keep this up with many Via Points. You can rearrange them per your preference. It's even easier when using the MapSource program and then download your finished route to the 760.
