Arizona/New Mexico 24k Topos available

I contacted Garmin customer support three weeks ago inquiring when the Arizona 24k topos would be available and the response I got was that Az/NM would probably be the next one released, but he had no information if that was correct or when it would happen.

I just took a look at their page:

http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/topo/topous24kcard.jsp#da...

and noticed that Az/NM is now available.

I just ordered mine.

And for those of you that haven't yet ordered them yet...

Note that free Garmin-compatable 24k topos of AZ and NM are available here:

I have the AZ map and it works well with Mapsource, my nuvi and my eTrex. If I ever need the NM version, I'd surely try this one first:

Nice

Guess I should have asked first...

Thanks for those links CraigW. I have sent a "Cancel order" email to Garmin and will give those a try. I wasn't looking forward to paying $100 bucks for each map set I need. I see they already have 6 of the 7 states I want.

You're welcome

Besides being free (or still cheaper than the Garmin preloaded SD card even if you make a generous donation for these free maps), another advantage to these maps is that they will load to Mapsource on your PC as well as be available via SD card to your GPS which makes them quite versatile--I gather that the Garmin SD cards with preloaded maps can't be transferred to you computer and Mapsource. And for those with more than one GPS, multiple copies on SD cards can be made to avoid the need to swap cards between GPSes.

Installing the maps to Mapsource on your PC should be quite simple as well as making maps to download to a SD card after you download the map .exe file and run it. If you've got a question about the procedure, just ask. Check back with the map website, too, as there may be updated map versions avialable there for you in the future.
