When using Excel, Enter can be used, but it sometimes caused errors. Does anyone have a suggestion for inserting line breaks that are easily recognized across a diverse range of platforms without causing any errors?
Line breaks
There are a few ways depending on the OS, the kind of GPS unit, whatkind of file reader/editor you use, etc. Search fot the topic on the forum there is quite a bit of info. Try typing The carrot pointing left key then BR then the carrot pointing right (no spaces)
Try Alt Enter in Excel
Try Alt Enter in Excel
Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
Alt Etner
Try Alt Enter in Excel
This works for me! Straight forward and simple.
NUVI 650

As bentbiker said, ALT+ENTER does the trick in Excel for 'Standard Linebreaks'.
If using Notepad, just push the ENTER key for 'Standard Linebreaks'.
But some Garmins don't display 'Standard Linebreaks'. They require <br> This includes nuvi 350 and nuvi360. We discovered recently that some nuvi 2xx also require this modification. POI Verifier will convert the 'Standard Linebreaks' to the linebreaks required by the nuvi.
