Chit Chat Thread for the week of October 06, 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Wouldn't it be something if the price of gas was to drop to $1.00 a gallon or less because of the 'financial turmoil' we're going through?

Any drop would be a good drop.. Would love to see one of the gas companies fail.

In SE Georgia where I am the spread is about $1/gal inside of a few miles. Lowest is 2.69, highest is 3.79, all within a few miles.

The meltdown's silver lining - cheap oil

from http://money.cnn.com/2008/10/10/news/economy/oil_prices/?pos...

Quote:

As the world loses confidence in the foundations of its economic system, the silver lining may be that oil prices are about to get a whole lot cheaper.
...
"As night follows day, low oil prices have always followed high prices, and the decline has always been swifter than the advance," said Peter Beutel, an oil analyst at Cameron Hanover.

Beutel sees a 2009 low of around $50 or $60 a barrel, then even lower prices in 2010.
...
But taking all these measures together, the bank says $60 a barrel seems like a probable place for oil prices to bottom out.

That would represent a gasoline price of just over $2 a gallon. Good news for motorists burned at paying over $4 a gallon for much of the summer, but bad news if that price drop at the pump also comes with a pink slip from the boss.

I drove to Grand Junction a few weeks ago and will stay until next week, helping my son with the remolding projects. Last week, we used the NUVI 680 going to Gateway, CO. to the great museum. My daughter-in-law and son was impressed with the accuracy and good directions with the GPS. They laughed at my revamped voices. My son's birthday was yesterday so I gave him a GPS. I am sure they will use and enjoy it.
