Once again it's that time of year again. Same question as last year, should one get the flu shot or not? The above posts seem to indicate that there is no clear cut answer to this question.

Just got the GPS a few weeks ago and really never needed it. But now I am looking at some of the POI's and they are a big help.

Hope someday to contribute something important to this site.

Probably not in this economy. Ticket prices from brokers and scalpers are already through the roof. Too rich for my blood.

Well instead of pulling out my money and putting it in cans in the backyard, I have been putting money back in. I can buy shares at 1/2 price right now. If the bailout works out and the market returns within the next 10 years to its last years condition, I will be one happy (and hopefully financially wealthy) man.

Of course if it tanks to never return, then I will not feel so smart. *smile*

I will get back in in the future but for now feel much better off the rollercoaster

It's a no brainer. GPS lets planes go straight to their destination. The normal way they navigate using VHF radio signals (line of sight only) requires that they fly legs, zig-zagging across the country. I was using GPS in small planes starting in 1991. Meanwhile, there were stories of airliners flying into wrong airports or even into mountains (one I remember in South America). Could have been eliminated with GPS. If I had been an airline pilot, I would have carried a portable one with me.

George Stienbrener thinks that he can buy championships by just throwing money at the team. Money doesn't necessarily equal championships, now does it. At least they did that stinking whole Yankee Stadium proud the finial season there. NOT!

We'll see what happens tonight then its on to Boston. They don't want to head into Fenway 0-2! That place will be tough enough.

Certain gas stations in NJ will sell you unleaded as low as $2.94 if you pay in cash.

Across S. MN, into SW WI. to gaze at the peak fall colors.

First stop: St. Charles, MN - Breakfast, and good coffee at (N43.97181 W92.07092) - Cabin Coffee - the first franchise store of a 'mom & pop' coffee place in my home town.

Then - on to Old Country Cheese Factory, rural Cashton, WI - (N43.71028 W90.72146) - it's in Wisconsin's Amish Country - on the winding roads to get there, one is likely to encounter horse drawn carriages, and wagons - and this time of year, harvesting done the old fashioned way - as in pre-tractor. There is nothing like cheese curds fresh from the vat, still warm, and freshly bagged.

Next stop was a co-op creamery in Westby, WI - (N43.65120 W90.85877) - more cheese...

Apples! The area along WI state highway 101 at its intersection with US-61 (N43.32695 W90.74153) and West to Gays Mills, WI (N43.31316 W90.84234) is a fine apple growing area - with several orchards along the way - Sunrise Orchard (N43.31763 W90.83117) is my favorite. Their apple doughnuts are to die for.

Final stop before heading home - Lansing, IA and their Mt. Hosmer City Park (N43.36187 W91.22223) - features two scenic overlooks down on the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife Refuge, and the town of Lansing. Has a cool bridge over the main channel of the river - and is the location of the probably most difficult turn for barge traffic on the river - almost a 90 degree turn.

And on the way - I found Romance!! (N43.55729 W91.12883) - A little unincorporated spot on the road that has a building with a sign boasting that it was a Grocery, bar & grill.

Had an enjoyable day.

How do you operate one of them. NEVER had to use one.

It like starting a lawn moore and cutting lawn only it is wet cold and not a lot of fun when it's wet.

Are pretty much a gamble. A bunch of epidemiologists try to figure out how last years predominant viruses will mutate this year, then try to make a vaccine to cover the new versions or strains.

Will they guess right? Will the vaccine be right? Will you get a strain that's different from those covered in the vaccine?

Don't get the vaccine and leave yourself more succeptible to more strains, or get the vaccine and hopefully, knock a few of the possibilities off the table.

Just don't do what one of my employees did. Snowblower got clogged with wet heavy snow. So instead of stopping the snowblower he stuck his hand down the discharge chute. Now missing a few finger tips. You would not think of doing that to a lawn mower.

average is about 2.89.

No I stop mine then use a wood dowel to clean it out even then you can get some back lash I need all my fingers. Look like we go about 3 inches at my house but as much as a foot or more in the mountains, with more to come today. Live east of the great salt lake so they expect the lake effect today.
