First map update-did it really change data?

I finally went on the Garmin website and "updated" my maps on my Nuvi 750 I bought over the winter. I followed all the steps to update the map data, including turning unit on and off, connecting to computer so I assume it updated. Yet I am wondering a few things- is there a way to tell what "version" is on your unit somehow? I checked just two things that were wrong on the old data base and they still are wrong. So I am wondering, should I just spend the 70 bucks and get the 2009 update, or how will I know that update will have corrections? I live in Milwaukee and there was a big highway project recently completed so I wonder if that won't even be on the 2009. My main question is will the "free update" I got be the equivalent of the 2009 map update?

Check the garmin site...

If you go to the Garmin web site, you can go in and look up locations in the current map (free) to see if the new (or any incorrect) stuff has been added (or corrected) yet before you buy.

Garmin nüvi 200 (my first GPS), 780, & 3700 Series. And a Mac user.

Hard to tell....

I did check it, but it is hard to tell, one thing I am looking at is the exit from I-94 to I-43 is now on the right instead of from the left, this took a few years to remake this huge interchange, but it is really hard to tell from the map on website even when zoomed in. Not that I would have problems driving on that, but if I loan out my gps or someone else is driving the car it would be nice if gps was correct....Again it isn't that I need this part corrected but this is an example I can cehck to see if the update is recent enough, so when I am in other metro areas the data will be recent.

It is updated!

I looked again and the exit ramps are very long, so it looks like this version has this interchange correct now!
