Best bet now that you found this site (because I think it's a great way to get info) is to visit the 'faq' link in light blue near the top, right of the site.

Then click on the link:

Have fun!

New GPS

If you're thinking about getting a new GPS, I would probably recommend a Garmin. I've had my nuvi 660 since May and really like it, though the 660s have been discontinued since then.

Edit - As for putting POIs on your Delorme GPS, I would check the manual to make sure it supports custom POIs.

Magellan Crossover GPS

I have a Magellan Crossover GPS that I bought from Amazon about 9 months ago. I love it. The 8 hour battery live is wonderful. Often I charge it at home and don't bother to take the car charger with me. When I stop I just put it in my pocket when I leave the car. It has an SD card feature that I am just now learning to use.

Like My TomTom

I have a TomTom GO930 that I really like. I got the GO930 because I occassionally travel to Europe and wanted a European map as well as a US map. The IQ routing is very good and I have not had any problems with maps. So far, I have used it in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. I have been very happy with it so far. Having been a Garmin user, it took me awhile to get used to some of the things TT does differently, but I would buy it again and highly recommend it. That said, the Garmin NUVIs are also nice, each has its strengths and weaknesses, so it really comes down to what suits you.

Consumer reports was very favorable toward the Garmin line. I have my 2nd Garmin, a Nuvi 760. My first was a Nuvi 360 which was stolen. I recently found this site which makes it really fun to have.
