Trade in your GPS at Best Buy

Best Buy has an electronics trade in program. Select your product and they give you a trade-in estimate. It offered $107 for my Nuvi 350 and $187 for my 760. I'm sure I could do better than that, but it was interesting.

200 = $74

Hmmm, $74 for my Nuvi 200, which isn't really all that bad considering you can get them for FREE with a credit card sign up. Not that I am interested in selling it. I will have to go check my old iPods.

Nuvi 255W not in trade program

I went to see how much they would offer for mine (Nuvi 255W) but I could not find it. I wonder if it's because it's a brand new model? Not sure, but I am with Guttermouth I am not looking to trade it. Very interesting concept though.

$107.00 for a Nuvi 660 in

$107.00 for a Nuvi 660 in excellent condition is a bit low IMO.

Return it to amazon for $150 store credit before $74 at best buy.

Trade-in Program

My Garmin C530 has "No trade-in value". However, they say I may send it in and they will dispose of it... l laugh out loud
No way, I will keep it. It is still doing its job without any problems.

My C340 was worth $45, but its worth more than that to me.

BTW, if anyone wants to dispose of their GPS units, you can send them to me for proper disposal rather than Best Buy. I will dispose of them properly (on ebay)! razz

Magellan Maestro 4250, T-Mobile G1 with Google Maps, iPaq with TomTom, and a Tapwave Zodiac with TomTom and Mapopolis

What do they do with them?

Do they resell them somewhere, or are they making enough on new units to justify the trade-in credit.

Just a guess

I would imagine they resell all of them to a second hand dealer.

They don't give you cash........

They don't give you cash, the give you a Bestbuy gift card.
Hence, another way to get you back in their store to buy more stuff.

For Profit

For a profit I'm sure!

Nuvi 680

$146 if in excellent condition...

Not in my life!!!!

My 6 month old 750 would get a $154.00 gift certificate, not in my life or theirs. I would rather give it away to a family member.

Come to think of it, maybe I should buy them all from Best Buy and re-sell them at Flea markets. I could then buy that home in Florida I always wanted.

No doubt they will attract some suckers. There is one born every minute.

They are nuts!

This is to funny. They say my C530 isn't worth anything, and my Brand New 5 day old Zumo 550 is only worth $322.00. I just paid $600.00 for it.

No, they're not nuts....they're marketing geniuses

Best Buy (Worst Buy) is one of the most despicable marketing fraudsters in existence IMO. If they're giving you a $322 in-store gift certificate, their out of pocket expense for that certificate is about $100. Then they'll wholesale it for ±400...that's a net profit of around $300 PLUS their over-priced profit margin on what they make off of you when you redeem your certificate.

Their pricing structure isn't anywhere near competitive. I've seen them price merchandise OVER the manufacturer's MSRP. Case in point...I recently bought an AT&T wireless phone system online for $105. AT&T's suggested retail price was $165 & Worst Buy was selling it in their stores for $175 (that's $10 OVER the full retail price).

For the life of me, I don't understand why anybody shops them & their brethern-in-crime Circuit City.

Best Buy is pretty bad price

Best Buy is pretty bad price wise. The will have a few good deals but for the most part they are pretty bad. One of the best things about them is they will price match local businesses including walmart and other big chains.

best buy's a ripoff w/ these

best buy's a ripoff w/ these gps prices.

Prices

razz They are no different than a car dealer. You get tired of of the unit and buy something new then what to do with the old one? So this way you get new and don't have to worry about the old one. Simple I'll charge suggested retail give you 100.00 for old unit so new unit is 100.00 less. Unless you buy from Costco or Sams for less than what all that comes to. Confused that's the name of the game.

Fat Chance

I don't think I will be trading in my 660 at Best Buy anytime soon. I would rather pass my old unit to my wife or keep it as a backup if I were to purchase something newer.
