Help with Magellan Maestro 4040

How do I update all of the POI's in my GPS? Alot of the resturantes listed are no longer there for some areas.

You don't

YOU don't. You are at the mercy of Magellan. Until they make a new list available, you are stuck with what you have.

If and when they do issue a new list, it may be just as bad as the old one. POI lists are notorious for being inaccurate.....not just Magellan.

The bigger the list, the more "crap" it has in it. My 4250 has a 6 Million item POI file. It is a joke.

New MAPS are available now.....for $80. Don't know if that includes a new POI file or not.

.

Factory POI's can't be updated except with a new map...In this case, it's $79.95 for the 2009 update from Magellan.

However, you can do custom POI's to load as you probably know. Other than those 2 choices, you're SOL. Sorry, I wish I had better news for you. BUT, the 4040 has a new 'voice' upgrade and a firmware upgrade (v2.36).

Cheers!

I think it's been mentioned elsewhere but maybe worth repeating: AAA members can get a 15% discount on the price of the new maps.

thanks for the infor that is what I figured. IT was very helpful the Magellan support sent me to this website. Oh well I tried I guess we'll just have to fork out the money later on wish we could do it before our wedding but oh well no big deal.

Don't worry

It's probably 2 years before the money is well spent on maps anyway. Have a great wedding!
