The blue line

On my Nuvi 780 it leaves a blue line to show the route that you've already driven. But it never goes away. Is there a way to clear that?

Hidding the trip log

To clear it:

Tools > My Data > Clear Trip Log

To Hide it:

Tools > Settings > Map > Trip Log (hide/display)

I predict the triplog/track will soon provide the smoking gun for detectives or the wife of a cheating husband in a mystery novel/movie. The point where the track reverses is the spot where the murder/affair/assault took place.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

gps ... the smoking gun

gps 'evidence' has already been written into the plot on episodes of CSI, Law & Order etc.

I'm sure it's already happened in real life too!

Don't forget your I-PASS!

If you have I-PASS or whatever it's called in your area, that can be a smoking gun, too. Their system keeps a log of every toll and at which toll booth it passed through. On the Illinois I-PASS site, I can view my own log online.

This data has been used as evidence in several cases so far.

Trip Log

My child will start driving soon. The trip log could be used to see where they are going, and if driving too fast.

Trip Log

My wife is a willing but nervous passenger on my motorcycle. I use the trip log as proof that I wasn't going as fast as she thinks. smile

The Blue Line

Hi. rolleyes Is there a way to export "the blue line" from a Garmin Nuvi 760 into mapsource or something?

Just connect your Nuvi to your computer and copy the Current.gpx file located in the Garmin directory to your PC. You can then open this file in Mapsource and view them under the Tracks tab.

You can also use the Transfer - Receive From Device command in Mapsource as well.

MapSource has a checkbox for importing Tracks

Mapsource will download data to your GPS, as well as upload data FROM your GPS. "Import Tracks" is one of the checkboxes to select from when you import data from the GPS into MapSource. Once uploaded, you can join multiple tracks together, etc.

not good to track childrens

not good to track childrens speeding, you can easyily clear the top speed, then just drive 55 to record that as the highest speed, can also clear the avg speed and all data, including trip log, and just like start over on a clean safe route at a good speed.

IS THIS IN THE FAQs?

Is this in the FAQs? I'd like to keep this handy, because I'll never remember it on my own. The holding pattern in my brain is not as retentive as it once was.

Do what I do and create a Word document on your puter named GPS or similiar and then you can cut and paste things that are of interest to you. Great way to keep things handy and saves alot of time searching.
