Stalled download of TomTom maps

First I will declare that I am a GARMIN owner/user.

The problem is an ongoing one that a relative has with TomTom.

He bought a new map online for his Go 720. Map size - under 250MB. The download stalled so he could not get the map. Look in the fine print in support (not up-front when buying) and they say his broadband is not recommended - should they say that up front?

Their product support can offer no help but suggest he "find someone with faster broadband" and refuse to refund even though he does not have the product. Why can they not deliver on CD (suitably protected for just his machine if necessary)?

To get the product he will need to spend more than the original cost again to just try at another location or order faster broadband (which may not actually be available where he lives).

Does anyone have a work-around for a stalled TomTom map download?

Maybe this'll help

You could try doing a search on the TomTom forums for a solution as well. I'm sure that you aren't the only one with that problem. wink

That's why I got rid of my TomTom One, couldn't download and sh$t customer service (no service).

Very happy Garmin owner of 2 units.

Thanks for the site. Had a look and guess what! other TomTom users also complain about their servers and service. Passed the info on with instructions to talk very loudly to them.... Perhaps they might eventually get the message? You think?

Love my GARMIN....

It's all relative....

If you look at this thread you'll see what I mean!
