I purchased the Garmin 350 recently. Can anyone share the access experience, adv. and disadv. for me? Thank you.

The best unit I've ever had (next to my current Nuvi 750). I used it in a Honda van, and I could mount it on a bean-bag mount, and set it on the cup holders of the van, and always got maximum satellite reception. I sold it to a guy in Canada, who also loves it! Disadvantages? Small screen, and lack of routing (which is why I got the 750).

I have to wait for starting

I have to wait for starting it/locating map in 1 to 2 mins before I see the main screen. Is it normal or a problem? Thank you.

That sounds......

That sounds in the range of "normal" to me.

By "main screen" do you mean your location in the map view, or do you mean the introductory screen?

If you are waiting that long to get your location on the map, while the GPS finds its position, that is normal. If your unit is blank for 2 minutes, that is not....

Hmmm

I never had that problem with mine. It would "boot-up" in about 30 seconds and go to the main screen. If you have the FULL users manual (available at www.garmin.com) try a hard reset described in the manual, and see if that helps. The 350 has been discontinued, but the manual is available if you look under "discontinued" on the Garmin web site via On The Road. Did you buy the unit used or new?

nuvi 350

I have had the nuvi 350 since January 2007, and still love it. In addition to the above, advantage=will fit in your shirt pocket; disadvantage=flip-up antenna gets in the way when going portable.

Do a search for "nuvi 350" and you'll find a lot of info. Might be interested in:

Hi Joel, Thanks for finding

Hi Joel, Thanks for finding the full users manial. Besides, I bought it brand new last week.

Okay

As Ted indicated (above), if it takes 2 minutes to achieve satellite acquisition, that is about normal. If it takes 2 minutes to load the maps and get to the "disclaimer" screen, that is not "normal". As RetiredTechnician indicated above, there has been lots of discussion on this Nuvi model, so click on the link that he has provided, and enjoy the read.

I have the 360 which is

I have the 360 which is essentially the same product except it has Blue Tooth. I've had great luck with mine, had it for over a year and never a problem. This site has been terrific too not only for all the POI's available but for the friendly people that are willing to help when questions are asked.

Enjoy your 350!
