When I load a Custom Set of POI's in my Nuvi 660 Such as the wal-Mart file it loads ok but when i load another set of files they will delete the previously installed file. What am I doing wrong?
you need to put all of your pois in one folder
Each time poi loader loads a poi, it over writes the previous poi. So if the pois are in one folder they will all be loaded at the same time...

Your new set of files is replacing, not appending to the existing poi files. You can resolve the problem by adding your new poi files to the folder on your computer where your old poi files reside and then use the poi loader to load that folder to your GPS unit.
Thanks

You could also simply rename the poi.gpi file after you upload it to reflect what it is. Then when you upload a new file it will be named poi.gpi and you will have both files. I do it this way and have a number of files and don't have to update all of them every time in a single file. This also allows me to delete a single type of poi file without deleting all of them.

.gpi renaming...
OK, since I got overanxious and have already uploaded the Super WM, and about seven other POIs into this file, is there any way to rename them (separate them)? I can't open the .gpi file to do so.
Or do I just start over?

Simple steps
Load your 1st poi set
Rename it while on GPS
Load your 2nd poi set
Remane it, you get the idea
I just loaded a bunch last night, had about 20 poi files in gpi format. No need to move them to PC until you viewed them on GPS and am satisfied with how they appear.
poi alerts and icons not showing up!

Ok I got all of my pois loaded up and they showed up. I also loaded up the icons and alerts with the same file name. I expected for them to show up when I got with in one mile. That was what set the alert at when I loaded them up but they did not show up. is there anything else that I need to do to get them to show up.

Not sure what you mean by "show up".
In order to see them on the map screen, you must be zoomed in. On many units, you must be zoomed in to at least 300 feet or closer and in one of the 2D map modes.
If by "show up" you mean that you expect an alert, it's important to understand how the proximity alerts work on Garmin auto units.
The alerts do NOT function as a radius, but rather they function as an "along the road/route" alert.
In order to get an alert several things must be true.
1. You must set an alert either through information in the file or via POI Loader being run in Manual Mode and an alert being manually entered.
2. Alerts must be enabled on your unit.
3. You must be traveling on the road on which the POI is located and traveling in the direction of the POI.
4. The POI must be sufficiently close to the road (typically 50 feet or less).
