Upgrade firmware from c550 to c580

Hello,
Anybod knows if it's possible to upgrade the firmware on the unit itself so it'll become higher model, since on 580 all they added was the weather and msn.
Any thoughts?

I doubt it is simply firmware. Probably some hardware changes also.
The latest 550 software is 5.20. None is listed for the 580.
Very likely the answer is 'No'.

Diagnostic Screen on c550 shows c580 features
The Diagnostic screen that is entered by presssing the avg speed shows two MSN Direct Screens. One is labelled MSN Direct Status and has items such as Rx All, Rx Gas, Rx Movie, Rx Weather, Rx Traffic, etc. The next Screen is labelled MSN Direct Messages. Strange to see these on a C550 which doesn't support MSN direct.

probably yes, but you still have to buy msn receiver
sure, why not.
firmware should be same for c550/c580; you just need to enable the hidden feature. this should be same for nuvi, too.
however, for msn service, you need to get a receiver & hacking device or firmware might cause a legal problem
i was going to look inside of nuvi, but i am not sure how to disassemble without breaking or damaging the shell.
btw, there are two ways i can think of.
1. hack the firmware (need to dump the firmware from the c580 or c550 unit or decrypt firmware update file)
2. change the device id
msn receiver
but where do I get the msn reciever, the firmware and the new device id?

MSN Direct cable
Garmin sells them on their webpage, unsure if it is compatible with the c550. It is under accessories for the c580.
