Garmin Icons. How To?

I believe you are talking about your favorites icons.This is how I do it on my unit, should not be that much difference.I select one of my favorites and at bottom of the screen select edit and touch change map symbol.It will give you lots of ones to pick from.

What about doing it on Map Source. I load the current.gpx file into Map Source, and I change the icons in it. Then, I save the file back into the unit, in this tree directory (folder) \Garmin\gpx, but nothing happens when I load my favorites.

It has everything you need in there. If you follow the instructions, you will not go wrong.

He's asking about changing blue flag icons (favorites). I don't believe that is covered in the FAQs.

Click on receive from device, select your unit, check the box "waypoints", then click on receive..

In the window to the left select the tab waypoints.
Double click on the waypoint you wish to change.
Click on symbol and a widow will open, select the icon you prefer.

When you are through upload to your device...

Works for me.

The way charlesd45 suggests but they are much too small for my tired eyes....

That is exaclty what I'm talking about.
I was able to change some of the icons via Map Source, and save the file to the Nuvi, but, for some reason I can't get the flags from the houses to change to a house icon. All others do, but this one that contains the addresses of people I know, don't change. I wonder why?

If they are part of a poi file, you can add a bmp icon to the folder where the poi is stored and give the bmp the same name.... poi.csv, poi.bmp Just a thought...

In Mapsource, you are able to change the icons to custom ones by going to start, documents, my garmin, Custom Waypoint Symbols and you will see images 000-007 that you can replace with your own picture. However, they are not transferable to you nuvi. If you want a custom bmp on your nuvi, you must load it named as the same name of you csv or gpx file as .bmp. Put them all in the same folder and label create the same name like starbucks.gpx, starbucks.bmp and use poi loader. For just changing the flag to another standard icon, just go to the edit favorite like written in one of the above posts.

OK if you have a POI you can set up a custom icon for this, but what about just a plan old favorite. There is the page + of the icons that Garmin supplies, headed up by the blue flag. I want to be able to add to these icons. I would like to have custom icons for my favorites. Any suggestions?

No way that I am aware of that you can customize icons for your favorites.Again some very smart members on this site who may figure it out but to date no posts on it that I have seen.You can use Extra Poi Editor http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Extra_POI_Editor and you may see some new ones there you can use as well as mapsource.
