Garmin traffic now displays ads?

I own a Garmin 660 GPS. It's one of those models with the flip up antenna. My father-in-law purchased a 760, which is the new form factor that has no flip up antenna. Both of us have the lifetime traffic subscription.

My father is looking for a garmin now and he has been seeing posts stating the new traffic receivers have lifetime traffic but when you come to a stop for 10 seconds or more, an ad shows up on the screen. I've never heard of that and don't know if thats for every new model or just for certain models.

He's looking for a widescreen unit and wants bluetooth built in as well. He also wants the traffic and I believe all allow you to use the SD memory card and to upload POIs into them. Are there some low tier models that have the traffic system with ads being shown and other higher tier models that don't have ads in the traffic?

Thanks,
John

.

All of the models which include free lifetime traffic have ads. Although the ads are apparently small and unobtrusive according to most users. (I don't know, I have a 750.)

You can tell if the models includes free lifetime traffic if it has a T at the end of the model number.

Also note that if you don't like the ads you can purchase the clear channel lifetime traffic subscription for $60 and that doesn't include ads.

You can go to the Garmin

You can go to the Garmin product page https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134 and on the left side you will see feature.Put check mark in FM Traffic included and it will show all the models that include that feature.

Do any of the new Garmin

Do any of the new Garmin units offer traffic without ads? That's what we are really looking for.

Thanks,
John

Yes

Free with ads, or $60 without.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.
