Garmin 7200 and a Mac Pro?

Just bought a Garmin 7200 and am wondering if I can download POI's from this site using my Mac. The Box does not say MAC on it and I am totally confused, when I called Garmin support they said that it is not MAC compatible. New to GPS and am learning from trial and error and at this point I need some help. Would hate o have spent the money i did for the 7200 and now find out that I will be limited because it is not MAC compatible. Maybe I should return it and get a different model.

thanks for any information

As surprised as I am to hear it, I think the cust svc rep you spoke to may be correct -- that it is not Mac friendly. The owners manual talks about "choosing" mass storage mode and that is different from most other units. There is no offering of the Mac version of POI Loader for downloads. I'm guessing you had very specific reasons for wanting the 7200 (RV?), so it is hard to counsel you regarding the value of the special features it offers (video input and backup camera compatibility in particular), but it is not a unit that I would want if I had only my Mac. You might be able to get around some of the problems by loading things directly to your SD card via a card reader, but perhaps a 7200 owner can give better advice -- I know we have some owners on here.

I do have a PC so I guess I

I do have a PC so I guess I could get the POI's through that computer an then to the Garmin via the POI loader which I know nothing about. As for why the 7200, yes I do have a RV and the display is better for the big unit. Don't know if I will use any of the other options but who knows.

Thanks bentbiker
