Changing Garmin Nuvi 465t Internal Battery

Hi after reviewing the YOU tube video for changing the battery is a bit more than I can handle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-hMn8mouGc

I have had my 465T since 2009 and it has treated me well. The purchase of a new battery is in the neighborhood of approx $75.00 and to have garmin support do it. It appears it would make sense to buy a NEW garmin.

Now the question which NUVI would you recommend.

I like the features the 465T has.. But I dont have a "RV" anymore so the need for a truck profile or low overpasses warnings is not required.

Any suggestions. Thanks In Advance...

On Garmin's site, just click on the features you like then it narrows down your choices form there.

Everyone's tastes are unique.

I enjoy my 2450 and I've heard good things about the 2797.

Get a new GPS and a new battery for your 465.

I don't blame you for wanting a new GPS. It is always fun to get something new. Check out the models and prices and get the one you like best.

But, I would suggest you also get a new battery for your 465T. They are really quite easy to install, and what have you got to lose? Even with a new GPS, it is good to have a backup. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, maybe you can get a friend to assist. It only takes about 10 minutes.

You can get the replacement battery with toolkit on eBay for about $15 ... less than $10 for the battery alone.

Old stuff

My NUVI 750 just had it's third battery transplant. The job is really easy, at least on the 750. The hardest part is controlling my impatience and working slowly while opening the case. The actual battery change is nothing more than unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one.

My advice is to order a replacement battery and study the UTube video. When you are ready to replace the battery, pull up the video on your computer and follow the instructions in the video step by step. Play the first step in the video and then pause it until you complete that step.

Then, because that new battery will fail one day, it might be a good idea to buy a new GPS.

Cheap & easy battery...

Just replaced two of our 780's batteries. Cost was <$10 each from e-bay including shipping to Canada and total time was 15 minutes. A set of tools can be purchased with the battery for an extra $4 .

So you can do it real easy for $14 and in under 10 minutes.

I had to look a bit, too.

For the extra $10, you gain the 50th state and Canada on the current map and future map updates.

Alaska is the 49th state. Hawaii was the late comer.

Garmin says 49 states is Lower 48 plus the islands, so they feel #50 is AK.

What Garmin is stating is their maps always contain 49 states as they include Hawaii with the 48 continental states. The addition of Canada includes Alaska for a total of 50 states. It's not necessarily the order in which the states were added to the union.

It would be like saying we include all Canadian provinces but Quebec. If you add the US, we'll throw Quebec in. Does that mean Quebec is the last Province?

I didn't know you could change out the batteries

Thanks for the info on this.

Thanks for the reminder, I

Thanks for the reminder, I need to replace my battery! I have bought one but still have not tried since my first fail. The popping of the case apart with my spudgers was pretty difficult.
