Computer doesn't show StreetPilot c340 as a drive.

Hi
My computer doesn't show my c340 as a drive. I know my unit was recognized because under device manager, it says Garmin Devices. I clicked the plus sign beside it shows Garmin USB Gps then I clicked properties, it say this device is working properly. I tried to update the driver but windows says it has the latest driver. I went to Garmin website to see if I have the latest driver version and windows was right about it my unit has the latest driver. On Garmin website it says if your computer doesn't detect your unit on usb port do the following.
1. Unplug the usb cable from computer
2. Turn the unit off
3. Turn the unit back on
4. Plug the usb cable back in

I tried it but it didn't work. I know my unit was recognized but I want my unit to show as a drive so that I can delete some text to speech files which are not English.

I have no problem with my Nuvi 660 connected on usb port on my computer. My nuvi 660 shows two drives when it is connected. Under device manager my Nuvi is recognized as mass storage device just like my computer hard drive and portable hard drive all under the disk drives column.

Nuvi 660, StreetPilot c340, Magellan Maestro 3225

Computer

What kind of computer (PC or Mac) and which operating system do you have (Windows 2K, XP, Vista)?

Thanks

Thanks. When I use the webupdater my unit was recognized. All I want is my unit to show as a drive so that I can open the folder and delete some unnecessary and junk files that I don't need.

Are you sure it can act as mass-storage device?

C330 and C340 are not capable of being used as a mass-storage device according to other posts.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

That is correct

bentbiker is correct , the C340 is not capable of being used as a mass-storage device and will not be recognized as a device by the computer itself.
It will be seen by POI Loader, Updater, Mapsource when it is connected via the USB port.

You can't delete the files from that unit.

The space on the unit for Custom POIs is limited, as well. You have about 2MB for Custom POIs or about 15,000 to 20,000 locations.
