Ace Hardware

Ace just built a new store in our town to replace an old one, and there is still another older one across town from me. If you start your project I'll post the info.

I think its a good idea.

Miss POI

Now that I have volunteered (?) for this, I am looking for volunteers to help with this project. The Ace Hardware website states they have over 6400 stores.
My present list,that covers central fla, consists of 43 stores, only 6357+ more to go.

The layout that I am using is as follows:

Column A- Longitude,
Column B- Latitude,
Column C- Ace Hardware of Merritt Island
Column D- 1005 N Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953, 321-452-3484

I searched 50 miles from 60455. Came up with 100 locations. I have the file, just need to send it to you.

I can help, If you can send part of the list, or all. I can convert it to an excel file with columns and all. It can be a text file or word. Whatever format you want. I did a 50 mile search, found 160 stores, but the webpage only displays 100. I did a copy, sort and geocoded them. But that isn't very accurate as to all of them. It took me about 20 minutes to turn address on the website to excel, then to a usable csv file. So doing the actual conversion is easy, but the gathering of the info is the hardest part.

I will keep you guys up to date on my progress.

Very tgood job, but one comment. I sorted it by column a and found a number of dub's you may want to do and sort and remove them. Most were same store just a different way of putting in the address. Looks like a lot of work

I felt it was time to resurrect and update this blog. The latest update of this file has just been completed. For the locations in the USA, 882 locations were added, 510 locations were removed (including 503 deletes and 7 duplicates) and 206 addresses were corrected. For the Canadian locations, 82 were added, 8 locations were removed and 2 addresses were corrected. GPS visualizer was used to obtain the majority of the coordinates.

That's quite the change but it sounds right to me as my old Flagstaff AZ Homco ACE dropped their association with ACE a few years ago. Then it was a TrueValue for a year or two and finally an independent store. Luckily it's still the best hardware store in town with great inventory and knowledgeable employees.
