Should I call Garmin to see if They even Got my GPS?

I was here a week ago about the disaster of having Garmin allow me to delete the files of the Garmin unit forcing me to send it to them. I had it shipped express 2 day and it got there I think the 17th of April. Today is the 25th and no word, no email, no phone call. Should I call them up to see if they got it?

Wasn't sure of the process. My GPS on my phone is working excellent anyways so if I never get it back, I won't be mad. Actually I will be, but just the principal of not getting it back. For how much I used it, I would say I got ripped off to the max.

Thanks for help!

Should you call?

You should definatly call. If you have a concern about the repair, you should give them a call. I am sure they will be happy to look up the RMA and let you know the status. They are always easy to work with and willing to help.

I think you'll find Garmin to be one of the best as far as customer support/service goes. I've never had a problem with their service, and they are always friendly.

I just CALLED

Yeah I just called and got to customer service in less than 2 minutes! WOOHOO!

Even more WOOHOO is they already repaired it and shipped another unit on the 22nd.

Even more WOOHOO is it arrived yesterday.

However, some dude named Sebastian signed for it! WTF!

My name isn't Sebastian!

I will need to get to the bottom of this because I am happy but pissed at the same time!

Damn YOU GARMIN! Man I also had a protective shield over the screen of my Garmin. I hope the one they sent me looks just as flawless! sad

To Call or not TO Call That is the Question

Not really sure why you would even need to ask if you should call.

That should be on your list of thing to follow up on as soon as you shipped it.

For a little more cost in shipping you could also get a signed receipt from Garmin with the signature of the one that received it.

I always do this for my own satisfaction.

Garmin Customer Service

Generally they are very good about the service - and not so good with sending an e-mail or tracking number. If you want peace of mind - give a call, or you can just wait another couple of days. It would not suprise me if it shows up at your door step later today or on Monday. Good luck.

Ok UPDATE on SEBASTIAN signer!

I just called my apartment complex to see if they received a box from Garmin and they did. I just found out my landlord's last name is Sebastian! What a weird name!

Anyways I gotta go out of town and won't be able to update on what is in the box. So far Garmin receives these ratings:

Customer Service: 10/10
Speed: 10/10
Reliability: 10/10
Overall: WE SHALL SEE

Also, to all those that called me names in my original thread and had it locked, Garmin charged me $0.00! So sorry to disappoint, but my mistakes go charge free! The Nuclear Engineer wins another war! grin

Should be able to give final update Monday when I get back in town. PEace!

Problems

Sounds to me like you should use the GPS on your phone and forget a Garmin unit. You are expecting an awful lot when you were to blame in the first place. You would complain about a screen cover when they replaced the whole unit? Hello... We are all so very happy for you that they didn't charge you and you found it. If you are truly a nuclear engineer heaven help us all..

Yeah I am a nuclear engineer. I am helping design the AP1000 (look on wiki for confirmation). All my friends are just as scared as you hehe. But don't worry, I know what I'm doing!

I'm glad to see Garmin got a #1 in your book. I have always found them pleasant to work with, and could tell you were apprehensive before sending your unit in. Now you see what kind of service you get, and how well they run.

Glad you got it back, and now remember to be careful what you take off. smile You are learing...and keep up the good work!

Got It Back

We all are glad you got your gps back, but you never did tell us what model they sent you.
