using an sd memory card

I just got a 2gb sd card since I have already used all the memory in the internal memory chip. My problem is that i cannot locate this new memory chip on my computer to download more poi's. I have the original poi file under the garmin file, but do not see where the new card is located. My garmin is a 650. thanks

.

With the SD card inserted into your nuvi, connect your nuvi to your computer with the USB cable.

Use My Computer to look at the drives. You should see the nuvi as a drive and the SD card as a separate removable drive.

Then you can copy the POI.GPI file from you nuvi to the card if you want. Or you can delete the file and reload the POIs with POI Loader being sure to select the SD card as the destination.

Also, you can probably free up a BUNCH of space on your nuvi by deleting the voice and vehicle files that you don't need.

It's advisable to backup your whole nuvi to your computer first. And be sure you know which files you are dealing with. And whatever you do, DO NOT do anything to the IMG files as these are your maps.

Also, if that still doesn't

Also, if that still doesn't work and you have Xp or higher, you may want to take a look at "Disk Management" and change the drive letter of the sd card, that is what I had to do once for it to show in windows explorer.

Straight to the computer

Another option is, if you have an SD reader on your computer, to put the SD card into your computer's reader/slot. You should be able to see the card with a new drive letter (as mentioned above).

You can format the new card (which some require or benefit from), then put it in the Garmin. Connect the Garmin to your computer and it should show up.
