Putting music (mp3) on Nuvi or SD

How do I get my mp3 music files to the Nuvi or SD card? What folder off the Garmin Folder? Do I ues POI Loader? question

Thanks, Dave

Transfering MP3s

I used a card writer/reader connected to my PC. Created a folder on the SD Card named "MP3" (same level as the Garmin Folder) and transfered my mp3s to the "MP3" folder. You could also connect your Nuvi and create a folder name "MP3" and transfer mp3s to it.

With an SD card you have more storage capacity (depending on card size).

I used the windows media

I used the windows media player to create a playlist, then loaded to the Card. I just let the Nuvi play in shuffle mode, and it works fine.

Do not put it in the same

Do not put it in the same folder as the POI folder (although I don't think that it would hurt anything) because it would just make it "messy" with mp3s and POIs all mixed up together.

Transferring mp3s is just a simple matter of plugging up the nuvi (or as said above use a card reader) and copying and pasting the mp3s from your computer to the nuvi's SD card or the nuvi itself.

If you clear the language files and the vehicle files from the nuvi, you will have just under a Gig of space.

Putting music (mp3) on Nuvi or SD

Suggest you put them on the SD card since Mp3 files can be large. Just plug in via USB cable and copy them from your computer hard drive to a folder you can name music. Once you "browse" with your garmin it will find them.

I have the nuvi650 and 4 gig SD card.

I created an MP3 Folder on the card. In that folder I created other folders with the Artist's names. In Windows XP Pro, I simply dragged the songs from a folder on my hard drive to the SD Card MP3 folder with the nuvi connected to my computer via the usb cord.

example:

MP3
> Rolling Stones CD1
> Rolling Stones CD2
> Matchbox 20
> etc.

In the Artist's folder I placed all their songs that I like. I edited all the tags in each mp3 file using an mp3 edit program (tag and rename).

example:

Sympathy for the devil.mp3
Track: 01
Artist: Rolling Stones CD1
Album: Stones CD1

I open the mp3 player on my nuvi - when the player comes up I press the browse button at the bottom - If I select artist, all the artist folders appear (ie Rolling Stones CD1 etc) - when I select album, all the albums appear (ie Stones CD1 etc) - Once you select an artist or album, all the songs appear in the order according to the track # that you designated for each song under the mp3 tag (so no need for a playlist - just change the tracks #s to the order that you want to play them) or you can select "play all".

So far I have about a 1000 songs - works great no problem.

(I also added an auxiliary input to my truck's stereo and I connect the nuvi with rca cables from the earphone jack directly to the stereo. Fantastic sound - no fm issues)
