Get Latest Firmware

Make sure you have the latest firmware update for the iPhone. Until recently, the iPhone had lots of problems staying connected to GPS units.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

.

You can listen to your iPhone on your radio if you use a direct wire or FM transmitter other than your GPS and still make or receive calls on the iPhone. While playing music, the iPhone will pause the music when in the phone mode, just the same as the GPS will pause the music for the phone or directions.

So from your statement I am guessing that you can have the iphone paired with the GPSr and still be able to listen to music via a separate fm transmitter/adapter at the same time, is that correct?

That is correct. If the phone is in use, it will interrupt the music. This is just like the nüvi does when playing music and a navigation message is played or phone call is made or received. Works great.

The iPhone does not transmit the music via Bluetooth. The music is heard from the internal speaker or the output jack which can be used for a direct connect to the radio, headphones or an external FM transmitter.
