Garmin Update DVD $49.99 at Bestbuy and Circuit City

For those that need it and can't get a free one (but you should try!) from Garmin, the Garmin map/POI update CD is $49.99 in the Sunday ads at both Best Buy and Circuit City.

No rebates, that is a $30 discount off the "regular" price of $79.99.

Cheaper than buying it from Garmin online!

I purchased my Nuvi 650 in early December, 2007. Is there any need for this update?

What is the version of the Map you are currently using? I'll be surprised if it isn't already 2008. And if it is not, you can get the update free at the Garmin site.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

You can go to your settings menu and check under maps, this will tell you which version you have.

Probably just getting rid of stock

The new one will be out soon, so they are just getting rid of old stock.
