Getting Mp3 Alerts

About the Red Light Camera alert sounds. I have the RedLight7.mp3 I would like to use. However, for some reason, I can't save the file. Surely my mind hasn't slipped a cog. Will somebody help this old man?

Is it greyed out?

When you right-click on the alert you want in the list, is the "Download Linked File" option greyed out? If so, there was a recent thread where RT offered the solution:
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/10807

If not that, what happens when you right click?

Thanks.........

bentbiker. I have it now. For some reason, right clicking wasn't allowing me to save the file. I rebooted and everything worked ok. I thought I was losing it. However, The Mp3 sound I loaded via the POI loader doesn't show up in my files on the SD card. Should they, or are they hidden someway? I gave it the same file name. e.g. Red_Light_Camera.csv for the location of the intersection, and Red_Light_Camera.mp3 for the sound.

.

The Custom Alert and Custom Icons don't show up as separate files on your GPS unit. They are incorporated into the POI.GPI file with the Custom POI files.

I think

Because of the problem with mp3 alerts causing the mp3 player to stop or jump to the next track, I have none installed to look at to be sure, but I'm pretty sure it is built into the gpi file that POI Loader creates.

You can simulate a trip to the nearest camera and test it. Just set your location up a mile from the camera and choose a route to the intersection. See if it doesn't work fine.

Edit: MM was too fast for me.

Setting the Distance

I thought there was a way to set the distance from a alert to sound for a red light camera or school zone. I have looked all through the tools to no avail. Maybe I just thought there was a way, or is there?

If you run POI Loader in Manual Mode instead of Express Mode, you can set the alert distance at whatever you wish.

Didn't Notice Manual Mode

I've never tried manual mode. Installing in Express mode.....what distance will it give you?
Maybe I should delete everything and go the manual way?

Robert,
In manual mode you can set it to whatever distance you want.

What's...........

a good distance to set it in order to have enough time to slow down, or make a decision to make it a go or no go through the intersection?

A good place to look is the Help section of POI Loader ... a lot of good info there.

doesn't seem to have a help section to go to.

The Windows version of POI Loader has a Help button in the lower right corner.
