Bluetooth v3.0 seems buggy...

Hi Bluetooth users,

My Nüvi 670 makes the bluetooth connection with my iPhone, but all of a sudden I get a "phone disconnected" message on the screen, followed shortly by the phone icon "reappearing" on the main screen. Then the whole process repeats itself, as if in a loop.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Thanks for your time.

Regards.

Apple iPhone and Garmin Prods

I'm under the impression from previous posts that there is a well known issue of the iPhone not playing nice with Garmin products -- finger pointing between Apple and Garmin.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Hi bentbiker,

I'm going to contact Garmin tech support today, and ask if they can send me a previous version of the bluetooth firmware, because the current version (v3.0) and iPhone, just doesn't cut the mustard...

.

The previous version of the Bluetooth firmware is available on this site.

Just drag and drop the extracted .gcd file into the GPS's GARMIN:\Garmin\RemoteSW\ folder

Then once you disconnect the unit from the computer and start it up, go to the dashboard screen. It may differ on different models, but press and hold the speed indicator for about 10 seconds. Then you should get a screen that allows you to install the Bluetooth firmware.

Hi bentbiker.

Talked to the software engineers at Garmin and was told the (Bluetooth) problem was not being caused by v3.0 of their software. The problem is being caused by Apple's iPhone software update, from v1.1.2 to v1.1.3. They (the Garmin's software engineers) have talked to Apple and they were told that a fix for that problem would be forthcoming and available, in March or April.

bugs

I called Garmin about bugs I have having with BT3.0. They acknowledged that they are aware of the problems, but refused to help me downgrade to a version of BT that worked for me. So now I am stuck without Bluetooth. I know how to downgrade, it isn't hard, I just don't have the firmware file of the last BT version to do it.

Yea!

Thanks for the news. I have several friends who will be glad to hear.

Not only iphone

It is also an issue with Blackberry phones as well. Tailspins description mirrored perfectly with what still happens when I try to pair my nuvi 660 to my BB 8130. It is "hit and miss", sometimes they pair with no problem but often they'll "disconnect" and repeat the whole process. I'll wait until (hopefully) they get a permanent fix thru a future update instead of reverting to 2.4.

Re: bugs...

Hi Aconite,

Motorcycle Mama posted a link for the previous Bluetooth firmware
Scroll up the page to see her post.

I tried replacing my Bluetooth firmware with the previous version and that (previous Bluetooth firmware) flat out didn't work, with v1.1.3 of Aple's iPhone firmware. So I went back to the current Bluetooth firmware (v3.0).

The problem is on Apple's side of the fence. The latest Apple iPhone software upgrade, from v1.1.2 to v1.1.3, is where the problem lies.

The Apple engineers are aware of the problem and have advised Garmin that a fix is on the way and the estimate is either March or April,

Thanks

Thanks ... I missed that link.

My phone is not an Apple ... I just had problems crop up with the new BT upgrade. Apple is pretty good with updates, I am sure they will have one shortly.
